Dialing in the Dream: Fall Glading Work Opens Up Terrain for Winter 2025

As the final saws quiet down and the last tree falls into place, we’re wrapping up a hugely successful glading season at Stellar Heli Skiing. And we couldn’t be more excited about what it means for the winter ahead.

This fall, our crew absolutely exceeded expectations. Made up of highly experienced fallers who are also passionate winter riders, they brought both precision and flow to every zone they worked on. Their deep understanding of terrain and snowpack translated into safer flight paths, more efficient pickups and drop-offs, and—most importantly—some seriously fun new skiing.

With decades of collective knowledge of our terrain, snow history, and storm patterns, the team focused on dependable areas—zones we know consistently deliver good skiing. And thanks to their hard work, those areas are now bigger, better, and easier to access.

Week 1: Rositer Drainage

We kicked things off in Rositer, tying together previous glading work and extending existing runs. The improvements here boosted both safety and flow, helping us streamline operations in one of our go-to zones.

Week 2: Davis Bowl

Next, the crew moved into Davis Bowl. There, they opened up exciting new tree skiing, carved out fresh landing options, and created exit paths that make the terrain more accessible and fluid from alpine to valley floor.

Week 3&4: True Blue Kaslo Views

The final stretch of work focused on terrain closer to home. What started as minor tweaks—clearing a few pinch points and adjusting drop-offs—quickly revealed a surprising amount of new skiable terrain. The crew spent two weeks developing a new zone that is promising to be a real favourite.  In addition to expanding an already well loved run to include more options, more aspects, and some moderate as well as steep burnt forests.  And the added bonus? Stunning, newly opened views over Kootenay Lake and the Village of Kaslo.

What started as a few quick touch-ups turned into something way bigger. The True Blue area stole the spotlight: close, reliable in any weather, and just minutes away from lift-off.

We opened up long, flowing leg-burner runs with jaw-dropping views of the village and the lake below. The kind of terrain that makes you forget about the work and just ski.

More turns, less transition time, and plenty of reasons to get out and shred some pow.
