March 28, 2025 – Kaslo, BC
UPDATED
At approximately 12:30 PM PST on March 24, 2025, a fatal avalanche occurred within the Stellar
Heliskiing tenure in the Clute Creek watershed near Kaslo, British Columbia. The incident involved a
guided group of skiers.
Kaslo Search and Rescue was dispatched shortly after the incident was reported, responding with a team
of four specialized winter response technicians. One skier was rescued and airlifted for advanced medical
treatment, he remains in critical condition in hospital. Tragically, three individuals — Jason Remple,
founder and lead guide of Stellar Heliskiing, along with professional snowboarder Jeff Keenan and
photographer Alex Pashley—did not survive. The three individuals have since been recovered from the
scene.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are continuing their investigations. Any inquiries regarding
this incident should be directed to the RCMP at this time.
The entire team at Stellar Heliskiing extends its deepest condolences to the families, friends, and loved
ones of Jason, Jeff, and Alex. We also recognize the impact this has had on the wider mountain
community, first responders, and all those connected to this tragedy. Our thoughts remain with them
during this incredibly difficult time.
