Stellar Heliskiing Announces Sale to Heli, Marking a New Chapter for One of British Columbia’s Premier Backcountry Heliskiing Operators

Stellar Heliskiing, a leading boutique heliskiing operator based in Kaslo, British Columbia, today announced that it has been acquired by Heli. The sale represents a significant milestone for the company and positions Stellar Heliskiing for continued growth in one of North America’s most sought-after heliskiing regions. The transaction also includes the Kaslo Hotel.

Founded on the rugged slopes and expansive terrain of the Selkirk and Purcell Mountains, Stellar Heliskiing has earned a reputation for exceptional guest experiences, safety leadership, and small-group custom skiing adventures. The new ownership group has committed to preserving the company’s boutique approach while investing in expanded guest services, operational infrastructure, and long-term sustainability initiatives.

The Kaslo Hotel is also included in the transaction which was first built in 1896 and has seen many changes over its long and storied history, which included a full renovation and restoration in 2009. The hotel was acquired by Stellar Heliskiing in 2022. Today’s Kaslo Hotel offers modern amenities: spacious rooms with private balconies offering lake and mountain-views, contemporary comforts, and a restaurant/bar known as “The Waypoint Restaurant and Bar”.

“Our decision to sell wasn't an easy decision, Stellar Heliskiing has always been about more than just incredible powder—it's about the people, the experience, and our deep connection to this terrain and our community. Finding a buyer who truly understands what makes our operation special was essential. I'm confident they'll honor our legacy while ensuring our team, our guests, and our values remain at the heart of everything Stellar does as they take the operation to new heights” said Kerry Luckey, Owner and Partner of Stellar Heliskiing.

“We are honored to continue building on Stellar’s legacy,” said Andy Culp, CEO of Heli. “This acquisition allows us to support the company’s passionate team, invest in the community of Kaslo, and elevate the guest experience while maintaining the intimate, high-quality approach that has made Stellar so respected in the industry.”

Under the terms of the transition, Stellar Heliskiing and the Kaslo Hotel operational teams, crews and guest-facing staff are expected to remain in place, ensuring continuity for returning guests and visitors.

"Finding the right party to take on the ownership reins was a very carefully curated process. Stellar isn't just a business - it's a family of guides, staff, and guests who have trusted us with their safety, their adventures, and their dreams of pristine powder. We also owe so much to the local communities and supporters who have believed in us from the beginning. Every one of these relationships mattered as we considered who should carry Stellar forward.” said Bjorn Algkvist, Partner of Stellar Heliskiing.

“We needed to find someone who understood that they weren't just acquiring an operation but becoming stewards of something truly special. I'm grateful we found exactly that in Heli and am confident that Andy and his team will continue to develop Jason’s vision. I am looking forward to coming back as a guest to continue experiencing the best heli/back-country skiing in the world!” said Stefan Engstrom, Partner of Stellar Heliskiing.

The company will continue to operate from its headquarters in Kaslo, and all upcoming season bookings, programs, and itineraries will proceed as scheduled. The new ownership group has also expressed a commitment to supporting the region’s tourism economy and maintaining strong relationships with local businesses, First Nations, and land-use partners which has been part of Stellar’s success.

Heli is a global adventure brand with two core business lines: 1. Sales and marketing of a curated list of adventure operators across backcountry skiing, kite, surf, bike, river, dive, and more; 2. Ownership and management of its own portfolio of boutique adventure operations, which includes Great Canadian Heli-Skiing, Silverton Mountain, Aspen Heliskiing, and Mustang Powder. The company is ruthlessly committed to rigorous attention to detail with all things guest and staff experience, stemming from leadership’s own passion and expertise in the world of backcountry skiing and adventure sports.
